VOICE and Butler County Humane Society are working to address Domestic Violence and Animal Abuse by establishing the SAVE Foster Program. The SAVE Foster Program was created to ensure that survivors of domestic violence never have to choose between their own safety and the safety of their beloved pets. Through this program, VOICE partners with the Butler County Humane Society (BCHS) to provide temporary, short-term fostering for pets while their owners seek support through our shelter services. This allows survivors the peace of mind to focus on healing and rebuilding their lives, knowing that their pets are being cared for in a safe and loving environment.
Once secure and stable housing is established, survivors are reunited with their pets. The SAVE Foster Program not only protects animals but also removes a major barrier for survivors who may otherwise delay leaving an unsafe situation out of fear for their pet’s wellbeing. This October, as we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we are shining a spotlight on the connection between domestic violence and animal abuse. We hope to inspire our community to learn more, spread awareness, and take part in helping protect both survivors and their pets. Together, we can make a difference. |

This October, we’re collecting supplies to support the SAVE Program. Together with the Butler County Humane Society, we help survivors of domestic violence find safety for themselves and their pets. Many survivors delay leaving abusive situations because they fear for their pets' safety.

Leaving an abusive home is never easy—especially for children who may have to say goodbye to their beloved pets. To bring comfort and a sense of safety during this difficult time, VOICE is launching our Adopt-a-Pet (Stuffed Edition) fundraiser as part of our SAVE Campaign.
For just $5, your donation will help provide a stuffed animal “pet” for a child staying in shelter. These pets offer comfort and companionship while children heal, and each child will get to take their pet with them when they move into safe housing. |
